Two inmates at the South Central Correctional Center at Licking died Monday, the Missouri Department of Corrections said.

Richard Floyd, 81, died at 11:35 p.m at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. Arvin Garrett, 77, died at 7:08 a.m at a medical unit in the prison.

Floyd was serving life without parole for one count of first-degree murder out of Greene County. He was received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on Oct. 8, 1998.

Garrett was serving a life sentence for one count of first-degree murder out of Newman County and one count of first-degree murder with life without parole out of Dunklin County. He was received Nov. 3, 1977.

An autopsy will be conducted on both, the department said.
