The Cabool Police Department handled 16 traffic stops from Jan. 12 to 18 that resulted in six summonses issued.

On Jan. 12, officers were dispatched to Cedar Bluff Avenue and Dys Drive for a motor vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer that left the scene. Upon arrival, it was determined that the tractor-trailer drove off the road and struck a concrete culvert, causing extensive damage. The driver and vehicle were located and the driver was issued a summons for the accident and released.

On Jan. 12, an elderly female came to officers to report a potential scam. The victim stated that a person claiming to be from “Apple IP” contacted her and told her she needed to withdraw and send to them $34,000 for services. The caller also wanted the lady to deposit the money into a certain ATM in West Plains. The female was advised it was a scam and to stop contact with the caller.

The following calls were handled by officers: animal complaints (3), assisting other agencies (3), accidents (1), civil matters (1), domestic situations (2), juvenile matters (2), peace disturbances (1), private escort drives (1) and public assists (2).
