Firefighters were called Thursday night to a barn fire at Evening Shade.
Departments from Roby, Plato and Fort Leonard Wood responded at about 5:40 p.m. to Saline Lane, where a barn was on fire, said Jeff Reed, Roby fire chief.
Members battled the blaze in the cold, preventing damage to the owner’s house and surrounding structures.
In all, about 12,000 gallons of water were used. Twenty personnel, three engines, a tanker, a brush truck and two command vehicles were on the scene.
Later, firefighters assisted a Texas County Memorial Hospital ambulance in reaching a patient after it encountered a snow-covered driveway.
