- Kari Young, 38, of Route E in Houston, was arrested Dec. 31 for having an active Texas County warrant for a felony charge of tampering with a motor vehicle.
A deputy made the arrest at Young’s residence at about 11 p.m. and took her to jail.
Cash-only bond in the case is set at $3,000.
- On Nov. 26, a deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a Castleberry Lane residence at Cabool.
- On Dec. 31, probable cause statements were sent to the county prosecutor seeking assault charges against two females, ages 53 and 19.
- On Dec. 29, a deputy was dispatched regarding a report of a motor vehicle accident at an Adair Lane residence at Houston.
The officer made contact with a 43-year-old woman there who said she had come home and discovered that her 2012 Chevrolet SUV had been damaged. The woman told the officer she had just purchased the vehicle and didn’t yet have it insured.
She said the only person who had been on the property was a FedEx driver who dropped off a package. Investigation is ongoing.
- At about 6 a.m. Dec. 30, a deputy was dispatched regarding a report of breaking and entering at a Biram Road residence at Plato.
A 37-year-old woman who owns the house had reportedly called 911 about an unknown woman sitting in her living room. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with three male subjects who said the woman was still inside.
The officer then observed the suspect sitting on the floor. The homeowner repeated to the officer that she didn’t know who the suspect was, but that she had indicated she entered the house because she was cold.
The officer observed a fixed-blade knife protruding from the suspect’s pocket and took it from her.
The woman reportedly told the deputy she had been kidnapped from her home in Lebanon, and two people had driven her into Texas County and dropped her off.
A computer check revealed that the woman had an active Laclede County warrant for endangering the welfare of a child. She was arrested and taken to jail.
The homeowner said she didn’t wish to press charges against the intruder. Laclede County authorities were contacted regarding the kidnapping claim.
- On Dec. 30, a deputy responded to a Burley Road residence at Mountain Grove regarding a report of forgery.
A 62-year-old woman there told the officer she had written a check for $165.12 to Dish Network, but her husband later discovered it had been rewritten and issued to a woman for $4,011.13, and electronically cashed in Richmond, Virginia.
