The Texas County Sheriff's Department was called to handle a variety of investigations.
  • On Jan. 1, a deputy responded to a report of trespassing at a Stillman Drive residence at Cabool.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the suspect, a 55-year-old Cabool man. The man advised the officer that the Lord had told him to walk to the address and just walk into the residence, and that he didn’t know who lived there but he would be welcomed.

The deputy spoke to a 32-year-old woman who lives there, and she said her daughter had taken the dog outside and seen the man in the yard.

A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.

  • On Jan. 11, a deputy responded to a report of illegal dumping at a Ledgewood Drive property at Cabool.

A 54-year-old man reported that several car parts had been dumped in a ditch. The officer took photos of the items. There are no suspects.

  • On. Jan. 14, a deputy responded to a report of an assault at the Drop-In convenience store in Summersville.

A 46-year-old man and a 37-year-old man both received head injuries in a physical altercation that took place. Investigation of the incident is ongoing, and a report was sent to the county prosecutor.
