The Texas County Sheriff's Department was called to handle a variety of investigations.
  • On Jan. 10, a deputy responded to a report of an assault at a Crossland Road residence at Cabool.

The officer made contact with a 57-year-old woman there who said she was getting a ride home with a 53-year-old man, and he had driven past her driveway, which scared her, and she threw a drink at him. She said the man then punched her in the face, and the officer observed an injury to her right eye consistent with being struck.

The next morning, the deputy made contact with the man, and he said the woman had been drinking at a bar for some time and was too drunk to drive, so he offered her a ride home. He said he accidentally drove past her driveway, and she struck him in the head with a Red Bull can and pulled on his right arm while he was driving. The officer observed marks on the man’s arm consistent with his statement.

The man said he dropped the woman off at her house and left the area on foot to remove himself from the situation. He said he didn’t wish to pursue charges.

  • On Jan. 18, a deputy was dispatched regarding a report of a domestic assault at an Oakdale Road residence at Solo.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a 47-year-old man who was sitting on the stairs outside the house. He said he and a 51-year-old woman had gotten into a verbal argument, but the incident had not been physical.

The officer entered the residence and spoke to the woman, and she said the man had been gone for several days and she got mad at him when he returned. The woman requested that the man be removed from the property so she could gather her belongings and leave, since it was his house.

After refusing a courtesy ride, the man began walking toward the highway.

  • On Dec. 24, a deputy was dispatched regarding a report of a physical domestic dispute at a U.S. 63 residence at Cabool.

A 55-year-old man there advised dispatch that his 53-year-old wife had struck him with a clothes hanger.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the pair, and they said they were going through a divorce. The man said the woman was trying to get him to move out and struck him with a hanger when he refused.

The woman said she didn’t hit him with a hanger.

Neither party wished to pursue charges.
