A Houston woman is charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony.

Carol Benson, of the 100 block of Third Street, was at a property where a search warrant was executed on Oct. 17. Benson was born in 1962.

Houston police said during a search of Benson’s purse, a dollar bill was located that contained a crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Police said in Benson’s bag, a broken glass pipe with a crystal-like residue and plastic bag that contained a crystal-like substance were found. According to a report, she denied the items being hers and said she had found the cigarette pack near a trash can.

Charges were filed Dec. 23. Bond is set at $1,500 cash.
