The Houston Board of Education approved the 2026-27 academic calendar last week that includes a later start and finish than the current one.
Dr. Justin Copley, superintendent, said the first and last days – Aug. 25 and May 20 – may be adjusted once the Missouri State Board of Education completes its review of requirements related to the earliest allowable start date for students. The 2025-26 school year began Aug. 19 and will conclude May 14.
Copley said the 2027 graduation date will be set toward the end of the first semester of 2026.
Other changes to the calendar, Copley said, are minimal. The hybrid calendar will again have multiple Mondays off – some with teachers for professional development – as well as extended breaks for Thanksgiving (Nov. 23-27), Christmas (Dec. 21 – Jan. 1) and spring break (March 22-26).
