A Licking man is accused of allegedly assaulting three law enforcement officers Friday evening.
Chase D. Mings, born in 1989 and a resident of the 300 block of Kimble Street, is charged with three counts of first-degree assault of a special victim (law enforcement), class A felonies; and resisting/interfering with an arrest for a felony, a class E felony. He is held on $100,000 cash bond.
A Licking officer was called at about 9:30 p.m. to Walker Street after a report of a verbal domestic assault involving Mings and a relative. When the officer arrived, Mings was talking to Texas County 911 and requesting a recording of the investigation. The officer told him to disconnect the telephone, and responded he was wearing a department-issued camera that records video and audio, according to a report. A computer check showed Mings was already wanted on a felony offense from Greene County.
Mings was told to place his hands behind his back. Instead, according to the report, Mings refused commands. Two officers reported being kicked in the chest, arms and legs. The suspect refused to quit and marks resulted on the officers’ hands and legs, according to a report.
Mings made attempts to grab the officers’ guns. Finally, a Taser was activated, but Mings continued to resist and fight. A third officer arrived, and he was attacked, according to the report.
Additional officers came onto the scene, and Mings was placed in handcuffs and taken to the Texas County Jail. Court records show Ming was charged with a drug offense on Dec. 4, 2025, in Greene County, and later failed to appear in court.
