Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol recorded a fatality Monday afternoon, it reported.

Tpr. C.M. Dougherty said the Carter County accident occurred when a 2006 Jeep Liberty operated by a 39-year-old Ellsinore man failed to stop at a sign and struck a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado operated by a 67-year-old Doniphan man. The impact ejected the Jeep’s driver, who was pronounced deceased at the scene at about 1:30 p.m. He was not wearing a seat belt. Next of kin has been notified. The other driver was not injured. No names were released.

The accident was at Highways B and K, east of Grandin.

It is Troop G’s second fatality of 2026; compared to three at the same time last year.
