Members of the Texas County Commission held meetings Jan. 28 and 29. 

Commissioners reviewed and acknowledged the hiring of Ethan Mitchell as a full-time jail deputy, effective Feb. 11. 

The resignations of Laikin Davis and Eddie Jordan, full-time jailers, effective Jan. 25 and Jan. 19, respectively, were reviewed and acknowledged. 

MEETING ITEMS

  • A 2026 budgetary public hearing was held. The 2026 Texas County budget was approved. 
  • Road maintenance agreements for Piney, Boone and Roubidoux townships were approved. 
  • A roundtable meeting with Taylor Clinton, assessor, and Tammy Cantrell, collector, was held to finalize the application process for tax credits for primary residence owners. 
  • Members reviewed the 2026 Texas County Health Department budget and a Prisoner Board bill reimbursement. 
  • David Scantlin visited with the commission concerning township Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) projects.
