For the second straight year, the City of Houston Fire Department ranked high on the annual Missouri Fill the Boot Honor Roll.

The HFD raised $11,253 in the 2025 version of the fundraising campaign benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Houston firefighters collected cash from motorists on U.S. 63 during Fill the Boot campaign outings on the Fridays prior to Memorial Day and Labor Day. That was the seventh-highest total among the 86 participating departments and agencies Missouri, and by far the highest among small-town volunteer departments.

Fill the Boot is a national campaign with firefighting personnel from all 50 states involved. The grand total raised for MDA this year in Missouri was $336,721. The Kansas City Fire Department topped the list with $31,770, while the St. Louis FD was second at $20,325.
