Between Feb. 9 and 15, the Houston Police Department answered 127 calls for service and initiated 25 traffic stops, resulting in four citations and 25 warnings.

  • On Feb. 9, officers were dispatched to the area of Oak Hill Drive and Acorn Lane for a domestic dispute. During the investigation, it was found that there had been a verbal altercation between a 16-year-old female and a 63-year-old female. The pair separated for the evening.
  • On Feb. 10, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Shelly Beck, 53, of Licking, for a lane violation. During the stop, Beck showed signs of impairment and, after further investigation, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Beck was taken to the Texas County Jail, where she was cited for driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right side of the roadway. 
  • On Feb. 11, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East Main Street for a well-being check. Upon arrival, Officers found a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old child home alone. During the investigation, officers also found the home to be in poor condition and that the mother had left for the store at an unknown time. The children’s mother, Kico McCarthy, 29, was later located, arrested and incarcerated in the Texas County Jail, where she was charged by the Texas County prosecuting attorney with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, creating a substantial risk. 
  • On Feb. 13, officers were called to the 1400 block of South Sam Houston Boulevard for two thefts. During the investigation, it was found that Vienna Derrick, 57, of Houston, had stolen from the store on two separate occasions. Derrick was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail, where she was issued two citations for stealing under $750 and released. 
  • On Feb. 13, officers were called to the 1400 block of South Sam Houston Boulevard for three thefts. During the investigation, it was found that Whitney Derrick, 37, of Houston, had stolen from the store on three separate occasions. Derrick was located, arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail, where she was issued three citations for stealing under $750 and released.
