After a Shannon County Sheriff’s Department investigation of an incident Feb. 8 in Summersville, a Missouri man faces a felony assault charge.

Samuel R. Vidaurri, 49, of Neosho, is charged with domestic assault – third degree, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child and property damage.

According to a Shannon County deputy’s report, the Texas County Sheriff’s Department was asked to respond and secure a scene at a motel due to the officer being on another call at the time.

Upon arrival, the deputy observed two Texas County deputies arresting a man – Vidaurri – who was standing in the highway in front of the motel. The officer then spoke to a woman and her daughter about what happened, and after further investigation, the determination was made that Vidaurri had used a small machete to threaten the woman and the girl.

During the incident, Vidaurri allegedly broke multiple items, including the woman’s phone and a taillight on her car. Two large machetes were reportedly located inside the woman’s motel room.

Vidaurri was taken to the Texas County Jail. Cash-only bond in the case is set at $5,000.
