The Pregnancy Resource Center of South Central Missouri has announced a lineup of special events this winter and spring to support families and raise awareness for its life-affirming services.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, the center will participate in Spirit FM’s Missouri’s Biggest Baby Shower, a statewide drive encouraging residents to donate much-needed baby items.

Items needed are hooded towels, wipes, car seats, Preemie clothing, cribs, diapers sizes 3, 4, 5, and 6, baby shampoo/wash and baby powder. Community members are invited to bring donations to the center at 107 E. Pine Street in Houston and get their name in a drawing for a $250 Amazon gift card from Spirit FM.

The center will be participating in the Texas County Travel and Tour on Feb. 27. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the Pregnancy Resource Center and learn more about its services, along with visiting other community resources in Houston. The cost is $15 per person, which includes lunch at TCMH. The bus will depart at 8:15 a.m. from TCMH. Participants are encouraged to RSVP by Feb. 25.

A fun evening of friendly competition is planned for Saturday, Feb. 28, when the center hosts Feud Night, a family-friendly trivia fundraiser. The event will kick off at Intercounty Electric Cooperative in Licking with team play, a 50/50 raffle, a baked goods auction and food and drinks available for purchase. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. Event starts at 6 p.m. Teams of 8 to 10 are encouraged to register in advance by calling the center.

Later in March, movie lovers can look forward to “Conceivable” on Thursday, March 19, a feature film event with a compelling story that explores the complexities of family, faith and the choices when faced with an unplanned pregnancy. Based on director Beth Caulfield’s true story, it is designed to spark thoughtful discussion and support for women and families facing unplanned pregnancies. Tickets are $10 per person. The movie begins at 6:30 p.m. at Melba Theatre in Houston.

The season culminates on Thursday, April 9 with the annual Banquet for Life, a highlight of the center’s fundraising year. Attendees will enjoy dinner, keynote speaker Beth Caulfield from the movie, Conceivable, and the opportunity to hear inspiring testimonials about the center’s impact on the community. Proceeds help sustain free pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, parenting classes and material support offered throughout the year.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at Faith Fellowship Church in Houston.
