The Texas County Sheriff's Department was called to handle a variety of investigations.
  • On Jan. 11, a deputy responded to a Highway B residence at Raymondville regarding a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officer made contact with a 16-year-old girl there who said she had forgotten to do a chore, and her 43-year-old mother became aggressive, striking her on the head and face. The deputy reported observing swelling on the right side of the girl’s face, and she said she had a headache due to the alleged assault.

A 38-year-old man who was also present during the incident told the deputy he heard arguing but didn’t see a physical altercation.

The woman was arrested and taken to jail. The officer reported detecting a strong odor of alcohol coming from the woman. She consented to a breath test at the jail, and it indicated a blood alcohol content of .213.

A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.

The officer made contact with a 62-year-old man there who said he was working in his office when a 64-year-old man stormed in and began making accusations of theft.

The officer spoke with a 41-year-old woman who was working there as an assistant, and she said the suspect’s demeanor was threatening and he seemed to be under the influence of something. The woman said she called 911 and also contacted a contractor who was nearby to provide help.

She said the contractor and his girlfriend reportedly came in and the suspect finally left after yelling at her boss for about 15 minutes.
