Sales tax revenue collections were a mixed bag for Houston, Cabool and Texas County in January, according to reports from the Missouri Department of Revenue.

HOUSTON

A one-cent sales tax earmarked for parks, police and fire generated $97,470 in January, down $2,485 from the same period a year ago. 

A one-cent general sales tax decreased $3,725, totaling $102,700.

A quarter-cent sales taxes for transportation totaled $25,991. One for utility work totaled $24,368. 

A use tax applied to online and out-of-state purchases increased $4,496, totaling $21,047 for the month.

CABOOL

A one-cent general sales tax totaled $32,683, down $5,574 from the same period a year ago.

A half-cent sales tax for transportation needs was down $2,787, totaling $16,341 in January. 

A half-cent sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $15,947 for the month.

A use tax applied to online and out-of-state purchases increased $3,537, totaling $17,931.

TEXAS COUNTY

For Texas County, merchants collect three half-cent sales taxes. Each totaled roughly $130,798, down about $295 each from the same period a year ago.

The sales tax on online and out-of-state sales totaled $151,215, up $61,244.

Revenue from a three-eighths-cent sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $88,347, which was up $118 for the month.
