Local residents now have another entertainment option, as an arcade recently began operating.

Gem Miner Arcade is located at 503 Holder Drive, next to Stratagem Hobbies (adjacent to Walmart). It offers prize-redemption games, skill games and standard arcade games, along with a pool table, foosball, a jukebox and more.

Gem Miner Arcade is on Holder Drive near Walmart.

The business is open from noon to 10 p.m. seven days a week, and is owned by Jack Slater, who also owns and operates the nearby Dodo Shack restaurant. Slater said an employee (or “attendant”) will be present at all times, and that he intends to maintain a “family friendly” environment at the arcade.

“My instructions to my employees is that anyone who is visibly intoxicated or misbehaving will be escorted out,” he said. “It’s about the arcade and kids first.”

Slater plans to host a grand opening at Gem Miner Arcade from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 28. He said the event will include a live band, prizes and a remote radio broadcast by 92.5 FM (Ozark Mountain Groove), and that the restaurant and hobby shop will also be involved.

“We’re going to have a big presence here that day,” Slater said.

The arcade’s phone number is 417-770-8313.
