The Cabool school board made staffing decisions for the remainder of this school year and for the 2026-2027 school year at its regular monthly meeting on March 10.
The board also approved routine items and the 2026-2027 school calendar. Caleb Cloud and Sandra Scurlock were added as substitute teachers.
In closed session, the board accepted the resignations of Shereen Pettit, special education process coordinator and middle school Scholar Bowl sponsor, and Brandon Andrus, transportation director.
The board hired the following:
- Makalah Watson, fourth-grade teacher, with a provision she will be certified in one year.
- David Quinones, high school paraprofessional, for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year.
- Elizabeth “Karen” Riley, bus driver.
- Sara Long, special education director.
- Elementary probationary teachers Alejandra Arce, Cheyenne Adey, April Collins, Mark Gossard, Samantha Harden, Cassidy Lovan, Rachael Martin, Kristen Sheppard, Victoria Sigman, Tristan Slater, Jason Stuart, Jeannie Thompson, Julie Thompson, Juliet Vonallmen, Andrea Williams and Teresa Wood.
- Elementary teacher going on tenure, Jessica Brotherton, pre-K.
- Elementary tenured teachers Joy Beeler, Jennifer Collins, Gloria Crewse, Taylor Goforth, Jennifer Gossard, Cindy Hawkins, Chelsie Jones, Sarah Prock, Jaclyn Sheppard and Abigail Warneke.
