Kylee Elmore is the next leader of the program she once excelled for as a player.
Elmore was hired Tuesday night as the new Houston High School girls basketball coach. She replaces Micah Lee, who resigned after 3 years leading the Lady Tigers.Â
“As a former Houston High School alumni, I am excited about the opportunity to return to a program that played such an important role in my own development.” Elmore said. “I am excited to help develop our student-athletes both on and off the court.”
A 2015 HHS graduate, Elmore had a standout career in the red and black as a four-year starter and one of the program’s six all-time 1,000 point scorers. She led Houston to a 19-win season and back-to-back appearances in the district championship game while earning first team All-SCA and all-district honors.
Elmore, 28, continued her playing career at Hannibal-LaGrange, where as a senior she was an all-region selection and announced as a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and NCCAA scholar-athlete with a grade-point average above 3.5. She led the team in scoring, assists, steals and blocks her final season.

The Lady Tigers are eligible to return 6 of the team’s 8 players from this past season. The team loses seniors Gracyn McNiell, a first team all-conference selection as the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, and Ashley Gilbert to graduation. The remaining players were underclassmen.
Elmore said she will continue working as a physical therapist at Texas County Memorial Hospital while coaching the Lady Tigers.
“I will continue working there,” she said, “as I love my job and the patients I care for.”
