A circuit judge who serves in Texas County is among 10 applicants for a vacancy on the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District.

Brendon J. Fox is among the applicants to replace Judge Don E. Burrell Jr., who retired this month, the Appellate Judicial Commission announced last week. He serves in the 25th Circuit Court, which includes Phelps, Maries, Texas and Pulaski counties. He is one of three judges in the circuit. Fox was appointed in October 2024.

According to demographic data released by the commission, the applicant pool includes four women. Eight of the applicants work in the public sector, including six who are judges, and two work in the private sector.

Six applicants are employed outside the Springfield metropolitan area, and the mean age of the group is 46.5 years. Interviews are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. April 21, in the V2 conference room at Hotel Vandivort, 305 E. Walnut St., in Springfield.

The interviews are open to the public, subject to available seating, but will not be broadcast online. The commission is expected to meet at about noon after the interviews to narrow the pool down to three nominees for Gov. Mike Kehoe’s consideration.
