The Houston High School Beta Club won 4 individual state titles and advanced multiple students to nationals in competitions this past week at the 76th Annual Senior Beta Convention in Branson.
Junior Hudson Volk won titles in Color Photography Division II and Agriscience. Two HHS teams – Technology and Musicology – also won championships.
The Technology team was comprised of Gracyn McNiell, Olivia Ice, Shane Yonkers, Landrum McNiell, Ty Bratt, Jaelyn Scholz, Izzy Cook, Bekka McGiboney and Ari Flores.
The Musicology team was Ice, Scholz, Gavin Altman and Thomas Kincaid.
“This year we focused on including more club competitions and teamwork,” HHS Beta sponsor Carman Scholz said. “I’m happy to announce that it was a success.”
McNiell had a pair of 2nd-place finishes in Digital Portfolio and Apparel Design. Lilly Kincaid was 3rd in On-Site Drawing Division II, Noah Johnson placed 4th in Social Studies and Ashley Gilbert was 5th in Club Trading Pin.
The National Beta Convention will be held in June in Nashville, Tennessee. The top 5 finishers in each state qualified.
