An inmate of the South Central Correctional Center at Licking died Thursday at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, the Missouri Department of Corrections said.

Daniel Mankey, 65, died at 11:30 a.m., according to the prison.

He was serving a life sentence for three counts of first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy of a child less than 12 years old out of Barton County.

He was received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on March 31, 2023.

An autopsy will be conducted, the department said.
