State Rep. Bennie Cook recently welcomed several student groups from across his district to the Missouri State Capitol. He said the visits highlighted the importance of civic engagement and education.

The groups included the Licking junior class led by Jimmie Stephens and fourth graders from Raymondville accompanied by Tina Sutton and Julie Scantlin.

The groups received guided tours of the Capitol while taking photos and experiencing Missouri government firsthand. Cook provided pizza for each group.

“These visits allow students to see firsthand how their state government operates and better understand the role they will play in Missouri’s future,” Cook said. “Providing students with these experiences is invaluable.”

Cook emphasized the important role that public schools and educators play in shaping the next generation.

“We are fortunate to have outstanding public schools and dedicated teachers who go above and beyond to prepare our students for success,” said Cook. “These visits are a direct reflection of that commitment, and it’s great to see so many young people engaged and eager to learn.”

Cook, a Republican, represents Texas, Maries and Phelps counties (District 143) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected in November 2020. He encourages schools across the district to continue participating in educational visits to the Capitol as a way to inspire civic involvement and leadership.
