One student was injured early Wednesday in a bus crash in southern Texas County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Tpr. T.L. Sullivan said a 2023 Bluebird Bus was eastbound on Highway U when it was traveling too fast for the conditions, went off the right side of the highway, struck an embankment, overcorrected, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver, who was not identified, was a 68-year-old Willow Springs man employed by the Willow Springs School District.

A 15-year-old boy, who had minor injuries, was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in Willow Springs. Three students were on the bus at the time of the 6:46 a.m. wreck.

The bus had moderate damage, Sullivan said. The mishap was about 12 miles north of Willow Springs.
