In their final regular season outings of 2026, the Houston High School boys and girls track and field teams competed at the Waynesville Invitational on Friday and the Mountain Grove Invitational on Saturday.
HHS head coach Mike Tottingham used the 10-team meet at Waynesville and the 16-team gathering at Mountain Grove to try a few changes, putting people in events they’re not necessarily accustomed to as a means of finding the best mix for the upcoming conference and district meets.
But there were also several Houston kids competing in their regular events, including senior Kynlee Weaver, who won the javelin with at Waynesville with a school record toss of 37.39 meters.
“She has been close a couple times,” Tottingham said, “so it was an awesome moment to finally get it done.”

Dailing continued her sparkling season, winning the 100-meter dash at Waynesville, while turning in three other top-5 performances – including a runner-up finish in the 300-meter hurdles, lowering her own school record in the process.
Huffman won the 800-meter run at Mountain Grove with an incredible margin of victory of almost 8 seconds, and senior Kayla Wagner continued to place high in all kinds of events, from sprint races to shot put.
