Authorities are investigating after a man was shot by a Rolla police officer during an incident early Wednesday morning.
The shooting occurred at approximately 4 a.m. as Rolla Police Department officers responded to the 2000 block of Forum Drive for a reported disturbance.
When officers arrived, they discovered a man reportedly involved in the disturbance who had a firearm. During the encounter, an officer fired his weapon and struck the male, the department said.
Officers rendered aid to the man until EMS arrived. He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. No officers were injured in the encounter.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control is investigating. Police said the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave.
