Houston High School’s tennis team beat Mountain Grove, 8-1, in a South Central Association conference matchup Monday at Westside Park in Houston.

  • No. 1 singles: Kaleb McGiboney won 8-4.
  • No. 2 singles: Jack Sandberg won 8-0.
  • No. 3 singles: Gavin Altman won 8-1.
  • No. 4 singles: Riley Wilson won 8-6.
  • No. 5 singles: Ty Bratt won 8-4.
  • No. 6 singles: Ryan Haslett lost 6-8.
  • No. 1 doubles: Sandberg/McGiboney won 8-6.
  • No. 2 doubles: Wilson/Bratt won 9-7.
  • No. 3 doubles: Altman/Haslett won 9-7.

The Tennis Tigers played in a three-way event last Thursday at Salem, losing to Willow Springs, 8-1, and falling to the host Tigers, 8-1.

Against Willow Springs, McGiboney picked up a win for Houston in No. 2 singles, while Sandberg fell in the No. 1 match, 8-9 in a tie breaker.

McGiboney also won the No. 2 singles match against Salem, 8-5.

The Tennis Tigers play on Wednesday of this week at Licking and head back to Salem on Thursday for the annual Salem Invitational.
