At about 6:12 a.m. on May 13, a bear paid a visit to Linda Gates’ property near Route 181 south of Cabool.

While it was there, it decided to have a close look at a hanging basket.

Bears are frequently viewed in that section of southern Texas County, which is known to many people as “Bear Alley.”

“It was early morning and I couldn’t use a flash, but I was still able to capture the moment,” Gates said. “I just tell people to be careful. These guys are still wildlife.”
