The Texas County Sheriff's Department was called to handle a variety of investigations.
  • On April 2, a deputy patrolling on Highway P in the Licking area observed a Cadillac sedan traveling eastbound. From prior contact, the officer knew the car was registered to a woman whose driving status was revoked.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway VV and made contact with a 50-year-old man who was driving. The officer asked him if he had a valid driver’s license and he replied that he didn’t need one.

A computer check revealed that the man’s driving status was suspended due to two prior convictions for driving while revoked. He was arrested and taken to jail.

  • At about 11 p.m. April 4, a deputy patrolling U.S. 63 in the Houston area observed a Chevrolet pickup in the oncoming lane that had no headlights or running lights activated.

A traffic stop was conducted and the officer made contact with the driver, a 46-year-old Licking man. A computer check revealed the driver didn’t have a valid driver’s license and had an active warrant in Dent County.

He was arrested and taken to jail.

  • On April 5, a deputy was dispatched regarding a domestic disturbance at an Elm Drive residence at Raymondville.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a 51-year-old man who said he and a 33-year-old woman had been involved in a verbal altercation and she had been throwing things out of the house. He said the woman had attacked him and the deputy observed a bloody scratch mark on his neck.

The officer made contact with the woman, and she said she didn’t want to speak to law enforcement. She was arrested and taken to jail.
