Out of 12 first-team South Central Association conference baseball players, four were Houston Tigers — the second most of the eight teams.
Senior Aaden Scantlin, junior Jasper McCloy and freshmen Blake Sanders and Stryker Sloan were named to the first team. Freshmen Tucker Venn, Knox McCloy and Griffin Aaron received second team honors, and sophomore Jackson Morgan got an honorable mention nod.
Scantlin made the first team as a pitcher after hurling 51.2 innings with a 2.57 earned run average (ERA). He struck out 60 batters and only allowed 21 walks and 10 hit-by-pitches.
McCloy made the first team as a DH/utility player, hitting to the tune of a 0.437 batting average (BA), 1.337 on-base plus slugging (OPS) and 13 extra-base hits, including 6 home runs.
Sanders was selected as an infielder, posting a 0.429 BA and 1.044 OPS, and Sloan was selected as an outfielder, hitting a 0.356 BA and 0.963 OPS. Sloan played center field, committing only 3 errors on 38 chances, and contributing 3 outfield assists.
On the second team, Venn and McCloy were selected as infielders and Aaron got the nod as an outfielder.
Ava senior Kyle Pitts was named the conference player of the year, and his coach, Weston Loftin, received the coach of the year honor.
