The Houston High School choir earned first place and the Esprit De Corps Trophy while performing as part of Saturday’s “Music in the Parks” at Six Flags St. Louis.

The event brings together school bands, orchestras and choirs on four different weekends to be evaluated by instrumental and vocal teachers. HHS took the top honors in its class as well as the trophy for outstanding behavior, character and professionalism.

Junior Jaelyn Scholz received a special medal for her solo performance during one of the choir selections.

The choir is under the direction of Hershel Williams III.
