The Bucyrus couple accused of murdering their son entered not guilty pleas during appearances in Texas County Circuit Court.
Chaun C. Asbury, 42, pled not guilty Tuesday, May 12, to second-degree murder and other felonies related to the abuse of children and the death. He is to appear at 9 a.m. July 21 in court after waiving his arraignment. He is represented by a public defender.
His wife, Tamla G. Asbury, 45, entered a not guilty plea Monday, May 11, to the same charges filed against her husband. She waived a formal arraignment and is to appear at 9 a.m. June 2 for a trial setting. She also is represented by a public defender.
Both were indicted on the charges by a Texas County grand jury that heard evidence.
Both are held without bond in the Texas County Jail.
During a March search, deputies located skeletal remains in a shallow grave on the Lundy Road property and recovered the remains with the help of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The St. Louis County medical examiner determined the body was a missing son, Ceasar Asbury, 18.
