Texas County finished off the state’s leaderboard for the spring firearms turkey season.

Hunters killed 659 birds during the season that ended Sunday.

The breakdown shows: 567 (adults), 89 (juvenile birds) and three (bearded hen).

Including the youth season, Texas County’s numbers totaled 759. The breakdown: 647 (adults), 107 (juvenile birds) and five (bearded hens).

Top counties during the spring firearms season in the state: Macon (979), Callaway (926), Franklin (879), Osage (786) and Sullivan (780).
