Five Houston High School girls track and field athletes competed in several events at Friday’s Missouri Class 3 state championship. Two qualified for finals on Saturday.

Junior Adyson Dailing ran in three events, the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and 300-meter hurdles. She placed 14th and 10th, respectively, in the two dashes, failing to qualify for the finals in either (top 8 qualify). She placed 7th in the 300-meter hurdles for a spot in the finals Saturday at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City.

Senior Kayla Wagner placed 7th in the 400-meter run for a spot in the finals Saturday.

Freshman Lyla Huffman competed in the finals for the 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs, placing 11th and 9th. Her local rival, Fair Grove junior Katrina Cantwell finished 11th in the 1,600-meter run.

Junior Hally Scheets finished tied for 13th in high jump and senior Kynlee Weaver finished 14th in javelin.
