UPDATED: Officer-involved shooting ends with critical injuries

UPDATE: Cabool Police assisted Howell County deputies in the pursuit, deploying tire deflation devices on U.S. 60 near Dade Lane before the suspect turned north on U.S. 63, according to a release from the Cabool Police Department. Near U.S. 63 and Cedar Bluff Avenue, deputies performed a tactical vehicle intervention that forced the suspect’s vehicle into the ditch and rendered it inoperable. The suspect then exited and opened fire on Howell County personnel, who returned fire and struck him multiple times before taking him into custody. He was flown by air ambulance to Cox South Hospital in serious condition; no officers were injured. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
