Devin Coulter scored 15 points and Weston Walker added 11 as the Houston Tigers lost their season opener 44-28 Tuesday at Mansfield.
The Tigers (0-1) trailed by six at the half before they were outscored 16-6 in the third quarter.
“We tried to make up the point difference by being over-aggressive and not executing our plays,” first-year HHS coach Richard Rose said.
Foul trouble hurt the Tigers. They got just two combined points – one apiece from Kolby Walker and Keegan Spurlin – from their frontcourt.
“We need more discipline on both ends of the floor, but I was pleased with our approach coming into the game,” Rose said. “We just need it the entire 32 minutes.”
Mansfield won the junior varsity game 49-24.
