People all across Missouri wore orange Sept. 6 to help raise awareness for hunger issues on annual Hunger Awareness Day.
According to Ozarks Food Harvest, 170,000 people are classified as food insecure people in southwest Missouri. In Texas County, approximately 1,200 individuals receive food assistance from the Texas County Food Pantry
Food Pantry director Bennie Cook, more and more people are coming in and needing assistance with food.
“We do our best to help everyone who needs food,” Cook said. “We help get them healthy food they need to survive.”
The next event for the Texas County Food Pantry is scheduled for 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sept. 22, when the F.A.I.T.H. riders will host a food drive at the Houston Walmart
