Kaden Miller and the rest of the HHS senior class are looking for their first varsity victories Friday night against Cuba.

A quick glance at Friday’s game between Houston and Cuba:

TIGER TIDBITS: Houston was 2-for-4 on fourth down against St. James. Coach Billy O’Neil said if it’s a manageable distance, he will be going for it this season. “I have confidence that they will make it,” he said. “I think that reflects on their performance.” …Weston Walker and Drake Bell led HHS with eight tackles apiece last week. …Kaden Miller and Landon Fleming teamed up for the Tigers’ first sack of the season. …Scott Logan broke his hand in last week’s JV victory against Thayer. He was medically cleared to play and had an interception return for a touchdown for the JV Tigers on Tuesday. …Friday is “retro funk” night. Students and fans are encouraged to dress accordingly.

ABOUT CUBA: It will be double wing vs. double wing as the Tigers and Cuba square off. The difference, O’Neil said, is HHS wants to run inside the tackles while Cuba prefers to attack the perimeter. …The Wildcats fell to 0-2 with a 13-12 loss last week at Hermann. Cuba lost the season opener 40-12 against St. James.

SERIES HISTORY: The teams first played in 2008 when Cuba joined Houston’s district. The Tigers rolled to a 62-22 victory. Houston won 28-6 the following year. That was the team’s last victory. Cuba has won the last two years – 42-0 in 2010 and 16-13 in 2011 – to even the series at 2-2.
