About 40 percent of the county's 15,812 voters participated in the August Primary.

When Texas County residents traveled to the polls last week, the profile was predominantly gray: About 54.52 percent of the total vote included those 54-82 years of age, an analysis shows.

About 40 percent of the county’s 15,812 registered voters traveled to polling precincts in the county, said County Clerk Don Troutman.

Three voting ages — 48-53, 54-59 and 60-65 — make up a third of the total eligible voters.

When it comes to making it to the polls those 60 years of age or older had the higher percentage of voters:

•60-65 years of age – 50.26 percent

•66-71 – 55.87

•72-76 – 56.86

•77-82 – 50.13

The lowest percentage of registered voters who traveled to polling precincts were voters aged 18-23. Only about 20 percent of that age group voted. The same for those 24-29. About 30 percent of those 30-35 voted.
