The mayor of Summersville was killed early Monday when his log truck ran off a highway in Shannon County and overturned.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Leroy A. Wells, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene by Shannon County Coroner Tim Denton.
The mishap occurred on Highway FF two miles north of Birch Tree. The patrol said the mayor’s 1999 Peterbilt log truck was headed southbound when the accident occurred at about 5:15 a.m.
An autopsy is planned in Springfield.
