The return of their coach couldn’t help the Houston volleyball team snap a midseason funk.
With coach Skye Carrasquillo back on the sidelines, the Lady Tigers lost 25-18, 25-13 Tuesday night at Mountain View-Liberty.
Carrasquillo had been out of the country for several days due to the loss of a family member.
Desiree Venable and Haylee Kell led Houston with four kills apiece. Alexa Ichord handed out nine assists.
The Lady Tigers (11-15-2) have lost nine of their last 12 matches.
On Monday, Houston was defeated 25-3, 25-10 by Winona.
Over the weekend, the Lady Tigers beat Salem 25-13, 25-20 at the Licking Tournament. They also earned a 23-25, 25-19 split with Ava. Houston lost to Willard (25-14, 25-17) and Eminence (25-20, 25-20).
Ichord had a team-high 20 kills in tournament play. Amber Sillyman had 34 assists, and Sarah Garrett had nine aces.
JUNIOR VARSITY: Haley Kelley had a pair of kills in the JV Lady Tigers’ 25-18, 25-13 loss Tuesday at Mountain View-Liberty.
Bailey Earp led the team with three assists.
On Monday, the JV Lady Tigers lost 25-10 in a one-set match at Winona. Kelley had a team-best three kills.
