Erdie Bell, of 16535 Lebanon Road in Elk Creek, faces felony animal abuse charges after multiple incidents involving Bell’s dogs and neighbors’ livestock, authorities aid.
According to a probable cause statement written on July 23, a Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputy responded to a March 30 call after Bell’s dogs attacked a neighbor’s calf.
The statement also indicates that Bell, who according to court documents is about 79 years old, has been previously convicted of animal abuse and neglect in Texas County.
The charges against Bell were recently upgraded to felony status by the Texas County prosecutor. A trial for Bell set for Monday of this week was reportedly postponed.
