The Houston tennis team defeated Licking 7-2 Tuesday for its first victory of 2011.
The Tigers won five of the six singles matches. Samantha Jones and Randy Barker cruised to 8-0 victories, Drake Bell won 8-1, Michael Shea was an 8-2 winner and Michael Castleman was victorious 8-4.
Maddison Bennett lost her singles match 8-0.
In doubles play, Shea and Castleman won 6-4 and Barker and Bell teamed up for a 6-1 win.
Bennett and Patience Clinton lost 6-3.
The JV Tigers lost both of their singles matches. Clinton and Echo Chaved were both defeated 6-0.
There were no JV doubles matches.
