Plans by Texas County Commission to seek bids on a new bridge at Baptist Camp Road have been pushed back at least a month while the county waits for Missouri Department of Conservation’s approval on a right-of-way easement.
District 1 commissioner John Casey said they did not approve the right-of-way at its March meeting and will not meet again until April 17.
Casey said that pushes back the bidding process “at least a month.”
The easement is the last piece needed so that bids can be sought, Casey said. The bridge was declared unsafe by Missouri Department of Transportation last July. Until a new bridge is constructed, residents in the area must detour around the crossing, he said.
