County government will hold ceremonies Saturday to commemorate the establishment of a law enforcement monument and an orchard that pays tribute to agriculture in Texas County. Three time capsules also will be placed in a brick memorial south of the county justice center.
Activities begin at noon at the county justice center on North Grand Avenue in Houston.
Open houses and tours are also planned at the justice center, the county jail, as well as the Texas County Administrative Center, which recently underwent major renovations.
At 1 p.m. the battle of Texas County, a Civil War reenactment begins at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce on North U.S. 63. Activities are planned for two days. A special section appears in this week’s Herald.
