Updated at 10:05 a.m. Thursday on charges: A 35-year-old Bucyrus man was seriously injured Wednesday in a crash in western Texas County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a southbound 2001 Chevrolet Impala driven by Amanda J. Westbrook, 29, failed to stop at a stop sign and struck an embankment and tree on Highway AJ.

A passenger, Steven M. Morton, was flown from the scene to St. John’s in Springfield. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Westbrook was arrested on charges of DWI, and she was taken to the Texas County Jail.

Investigating were Sgt. Jeff Kinder and Tpr. Marty Wiseman. Members of the Texas County Rescue Squad also responded.
