Faye Joanne Deck, 71, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at Cox South in Springfield.
She was born Oct. 1, 1938, in Houston, daughter of Murl and Mildred Upton Fair.
She was a stay-at-home mom until her children completed school. She then worked at Lee’s in Houston before volunteering at the Houston Senior Center. She later worked at Arlee’s Home Fashions.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and served as a GA leader. She raised her family in the church and welcomed missionaries into her home. She read her Bible daily and loved serving her Lord.
She enjoyed watching birds, especially hummingbirds. She loved to read and cook. She enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed powdered donuts and listening to country music. She was a Dallas Cowboys fan. Her favorite player was running back Marion Barber.
She loved being around her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis Twinn Sr. and Russell Deck Sr.; a granddaughter; a son, Larry Dale Jenkins; and a sister, Shirley Bryson.
Survivors include eight children, Carolyn Poag of Battlefield, Betty Hoots of Villa Ridge, Louis Twinn Jr. of Alabama, Debbie Branson of Tonkawa, Okla., Darlene Neugebauer, Donnie Jenkins and Russell Lee Deck Jr. of Houston and Ricky Jenkins of West Plains; a brother, Jimmy Fair of Allentown, Pa.; a sister, Connie Sue Turner of Houston; 17 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday, Feb. 1, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Terry Snelling officiating. Burial was in Pine Lawn Cemetery.
