Frances “Louise” Pitts, 75, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield.

She was born March 24, 1934, at Summersville, daughter of John S. Howell and Mildred Smith Howell. She married Floyd Curtis “Buzz” Pitts. They later divorced.

She was a member of the Hartshorn Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed “surfing the net” on her computer. She was handy with tools and fixing things. She was proud to be part of a large family and her community.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Pitts; and a daughter, Sherri L. Pitts Norton.

Survivors include two children, Richard “Rick” Pitts of Oro Valley, Ariz., and Michelle Pitts Bartleson of Wylie, Texas; 11 siblings, Edna Mae Clayton of Smithville, Fern George, Robert “Bob” Howell, Donald “Pete” Howell, Johnny “Red” Howell and Billy Howell of Hartshorn, Jean Eiffert of Bradenton, Fla., Becky Thomlinson, George Howell and Gordon Howell of Summersville and Danny Howell of Henderson, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services are 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at Hartshorn Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
