Plans for the Texas County Fair and its sister attraction, the 99th annual Old Settlers Reunion on July 15-18, were announced this week by its sponsor, the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce.

The event is staged at the chamber’s fairgrounds on North U.S. 63.

The Texas County Fair Board also sponsors various livestock shows as part of the event.

Here is the grandstand entertainment:

Wednesday, July 15 – Family Gospel Night.

Thursday, July 16 -Big Country 99 Idol Contest.

Friday, July 17 – Demolition derby qualifying heats and idol contest finals.

Saturday, July 18 – Demolition derby finals.

This year’s carnival midway is supplied by SonShine Amusements.

Entry to the fair is free. There is a fee to attend either night of the demolition derby: $10 for adults; $5 for kids 5-12. Those under 4 are free.

Musical entertainment also is planned for the four nights.

The fair board also will sponsor several livestock shows:

-Goats and sheep judged, 5 p.m. Thursday, July 16

-Swine followed by beef shows, 9 a.m. Friday, July 17.

-Rabbits followed by poultry shows, 10 a.m. Friday, July 17.

-Dairy cattle judged, 9 a.m. Saturday, July 18.

The annual Junior Livestock Sale is 4 p.m. Saturday, July 18.
